My first travel vlog! And featuring a place so close to Toronto and yet so beautiful — Orillia, Ontario! I know, travelling during the pandemic may seem a bit out of the ordinary but let me explain.
This trip to Orillia, Ontario has been in the works for almost a year! You see, in December 2019, Choice Hotels Canada reached out to partner with me so I could share some content about how to travel smart by using points to save money. This would involve myself and my husband (also my videographer) going on a short trip to Quebec City, which I was so excited about because I’ve never had the opportunity to work with a brand that allowed me to talk about personal finance and travel — two things I love! Also, I haven't been back to Quebec City since I was a teenager.
But that was not to be. The pandemic hit and all our travel plans went out the weekend. Luckily, things improved this September and we felt with current guidelines it was safe to travel locally (while adhering to safety protocols). That's why chose Orillia, Ontario. It was far enough away from Toronto that we felt like it was a true vacation, but close enough too.
